There are two scheduled ferry services that connect Rum with the mainland:
* The Caledonian MacBrayne [url=http://www.calmac.co.uk/]]ferry MV Lochnevis sails to all four of the [[Small Isles[/url]] from [wiki=f88d7cd42561687a9a23a1e64012b799]Mallaig[/wiki] throughout the year. It calls at Rum once on Monday, twice on Tuesday, twice on Thursday and once on Saturday during the winter; twice on Monday, twice on Wednesday, twice on Friday and twice on Saturday in the summer.
* During the summer, Arisaig Marine [url=http://www.arisaig.co.uk/]]provide wildlife sightseeing cruises from [[Arisaig[/url]], about 10 miles south of Mallaig. Single fares are available.
If not travelling to [wiki=f88d7cd42561687a9a23a1e64012b799]Mallaig[/wiki] or [wiki=0c472fb1a789bceefd35600aab098554]Arisaig[/wiki] by car, you can reach the ferries by scheduled ScotRail [url=http://www.scotrail.co.uk/]]train service along the [[West Highland Railway[/url]] (although note that the pier at [wiki=0c472fb1a789bceefd35600aab098554]Arisaig[/wiki] is not as close to the railway as the pier at [wiki=f88d7cd42561687a9a23a1e64012b799]Mallaig[/wiki]).
The famous 'Deerstalker' Caledonian Sleeper provides first class (single cabin) and standard class (double cabin) sleeper and reclining seat travel between [wiki=59ead8d1e124ccfb79f3ace06f43e703]London[/wiki] Euston and [wiki=586e5fa25c16bd09e3e9cfc7cc269360]Fort William[/wiki] every night except Saturday. Local trains connect to Mallaig.
If travelling by day train, travelling to Rum from anywhere further south than [wiki=586e5fa25c16bd09e3e9cfc7cc269360]Fort William[/wiki] is only possible without an overnight stop in [wiki=f88d7cd42561687a9a23a1e64012b799]Mallaig[/wiki] on summer Saturdays, when the early morning train from [wiki=d586293d554981ed611ab7b01316d2d5]Glasgow[/wiki] Queen Street station connects with the second CalMac sailing to Rum.
Travelling from Rum to points beyond [wiki=586e5fa25c16bd09e3e9cfc7cc269360]Fort William[/wiki] by day train is likewise only possible on summer Saturdays, when the first CalMac sailing from Rum connects with the train to [wiki=586e5fa25c16bd09e3e9cfc7cc269360]Fort William[/wiki] and [wiki=d586293d554981ed611ab7b01316d2d5]Glasgow[/wiki] Queen Street.
