      Thomastown train station (Station Road, +353 (0)56 24218) was opened on 12 May 1848. It is on the [wiki=50fefb5efb085fd11b1a4fd2b6dda0aa]Dublin[/wiki] - [wiki=9ada3a82683411344b1a0d19dfc1c615]Waterford[/wiki] line, which also serves [wiki=ca3bb200c68d09de81b2ef468007fb23]Athy[/wiki], [wiki=5e8c9f97b3b049b558a3c8ff84a11870]Carlow[/wiki], [wiki=ebe8d66aa4849fbe28598e3bd75caa06]Bagenalstown[/wiki] and [wiki=4ed2a5a94470a32a87a57feda71dd8af]Kilkenny[/wiki]. There are 6 trains a day in each direction. It is open M-Su 7am-7.30pm.

      Kilkenny is knows for its excellent array of high quality arts and crafts. All of the items below are made in Thomastown. In most cases, you can visit the workshops themselves and see how the items are made.

      In 2009, the brand 'Made In Kilkenny'[http://www.madeinkilkenny.ie] was created to help promote the local craft industry. Look out for it.

      * Kilkenny is known as the marble city. This designer makes necklaces from local marble and other gems/stones.
      * Ceramic studio that makes comtempory, original designs. There is also a gallery.
      * Set up by three local ceramics artists, Karen Morgan, Oonagh Anderson and Caroline Dolan to show and sell their work. Located in an old watermill.
      * Makes tiles, functional and large scale pieces to commission.
      * Have been making individual jewellery for over 17 years.
